Abstract

The present research work had the objective of complementing the N-Tier information system in the pharmacy of the Guillemio Díaz de la Vega Regional Hospital (HRGD4), to reduce the delivery time of medical prescriptions and to improve the management of the medicine stock in order to guarantee its availability. The evaluation was carried out from two perspectives: qualitative and quantitative evaluation. For the first, the ISO 25000 criteria were used with the purpose of evaluating the quality of the system under the attributes: functional adequacy, functional completeness and usability, all of them were evaluated by survey and it was determined that the system executes all the required tasks, respects the programmed parameters and the user can use the system and for the second, the processing time of prescription information was evaluated, comparing the SISMED 2.1. 0 software (currently used, average time 277 sec.) versus the N-Tier information system (average time 17 sec.), the A kicked t-test was used to determine if there is a significant difference in the time taken to process prescriptions. A theoretical t-value (two-tailed) of 1.42 and an experimental t-value of -50.39 were obtained, thus statistically demonstrating that the N-Tier system reduces prescription processing time. Furthermore, the medication and medical supplies stock availability module was developed according to the requirements established by DIGEMID. The programmed function in the N-Tier system was evaluated by comparing a manual calculation (Excel) to assess whether the system meets DIGEMID requirements. The results obtained in the Excel spreadsheet are identical to the results displayed by the N-Tier system. Therefore, it is concluded that the system meets DIGEMID requirements.
