Benefits and challenges of cloud infrastructure integration in IT service management: a systematic review

Abstract

This article presents a systematic review of the benefits and challenges associated with integrating cloud infrastructure into IT service management. Using the PRISMA methodology, recent studies were selected and analyzed to explore how cloud adoption is transforming the way organizations manage their technological resources, driving their digital transformation. The results show that the main benefits of cloud computing include scalability, flexibility, reduced operational costs, and enhanced security through emerging technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence. However, key challenges were also identified, such as security in multi-cloud environments, integration with legacy systems, and a lack of skilled personnel. The analysis highlights that despite the evident benefits, organizations must overcome various technical and cultural barriers to successfully implement cloud infrastructure. The adoption of emerging technologies and continuous staff training is recommended to mitigate these challenges.
