A qubit (or cúbit, from the English quantum bit) is the basic unit of information in quantum computing, equivalent to the bit in classical computing. However, unlike a traditional bit that can only be in one of two states (0 or 1), a qubit can exist in a superposition of both states at the same time thanks to the laws of quantum mechanics
