Evaluation of the Analytical Performance of the Gravimetric Method for Free Alumina Quantification at CVG Venalum
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research is framed within optimization and quality control in the aluminum industry, addressing the need to verify analytical reliability in CVG Venalum laboratories. Its general objective consisted of evaluating the analytical performance of a gravimetric method for the quantification of free alumina in electrolytic baths, using an Internal Reference Material (MRI002). Methodologically, a quantitative approach of a descriptive level and field design was adopted, with a sample size of N = 15 replicas. The experimental procedure included Grubbs' test for outliers, Student's t-test with a 95% confidence level (α = 0,05), and a dispersion analysis compared against historical records. As a synopsis of the results, the characterization determined a mean concentration of 3.67% with a standard deviation of 0.117% and a coefficient of variation of 3.188%, ruling out statistical anomalies in the value of 3.93% (G = 2,222). Likewise, the statistical test (tcalc = 1,9271 < tcrit = 2,1448) showed no significant differences with respect to the certified value of 3.53%. In conclusion, the absence of analytical bias was confirmed, and the accuracy and precision of the gravimetric method were satisfactorily validated, demonstrating its suitability for routine industrial control.
