Geological characterization and mineralogical potential of Tumipampa
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study focuses on the comprehensive evaluation of the Tumipampa deposit, located in the Apurímac region of Peru, known for its notable mineralogical potential. The research emphasizes detailed lithological characterization, precise identification of geological structures, and the assessment of economic potential based on existing mineralization. Through rigorous geological mapping, exhaustive geochemical sampling, and advanced diamond drilling techniques, granodiorite intrusions, limestone formations, marble, quartzite, and siltstones were identified. Geological structures, including faults and folds, play a crucial role in mineral distribution. Detailed geochemical analyses revealed significant concentrations of gold (Au), silver (Ag), and copper (Cu) in outcrop samples, with values up to 25.10 ppm of Au and 24.8 ppm of Ag. Additionally, diamond drilling results indicated concentrations up to 12.25 ppm of Au over 2.00-meter intervals and 23.8 ppm over 1.20-meter intervals. These findings suggest considerable economic potential for mining exploitation at the Tumipampa deposit, supported by quantitative resource data and diamond drilling results.
