Abstract

This research work entitled "Evaluation of mechanical and energy components of the fluidized bed dryer of the National University Micaela Bastidas de Apurímac", was developed in the Province of Abancay - Apurímac, in the Unit Operations laboratory of the Professional Academic School of Agroindustrial engineering. The main objective of the investigation was to determine the mechanical elements that produce the energy consumption of the dryer that influences the high cost of drying. The problem in the dryer is the loss of energy, high costs and the pollutants produced, the research developed the energy balance to optimize the drying time in the fluidized bed dryer, JARCON, Model SLFT-60-240X, the method used for Moisture determination is AOAC (2005) and the design applied was the complete random block (22*3) to evaluate the response variables, manipulating the fan and extractor with the variance analysis technique. The most important results were, the shortest drying time resulted with the auxiliary equipment of the fan and extractor with an average time of 14.7 hours, also with an optimum thermal efficiency of 48.42%. While the greatest loss of energy in the dryer occurs when no auxiliary equipment (fan and extractor) is used is 283.9 kW-h and the lowest loss is when the auxiliary equipment (fan and extractor) is used, being the energy consumption of 44.3 kW-h. Concluding that the drying time was better with the auxiliary equipment and the energy loss was lower.
